Excelion Partners team unanimously chose to support Trevor Kislewski’s Eagle Scout Project. The Appleton East student’s pursuit of ‘doing the right thing’ led him to use social applications to create a campaign plan to raise over 25K for a new playground for the Harbor House, a non-profit organization focused on providing a safe haven and support for women and children who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
Trevor’s passion for his cause, personal story of servant leadership at a young age, combined with his marketing and technical aptitude, inspired the team to help him realize his goal by providing a Gold Level donation.
At sixteen, Trevor is a fundraising veteran. He launched his first fundraising project at age five, to sell his personal belongings to raise funds for people impacted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His generosity inspired others to give to his cause, generating over 1K in donations. Trevor attracted regional media attention from two television stations.
Eleven years later, Trevor is able to harness his leadership skills and pioneering mindset to leverage social media and crowdfunding tools to get the word out about the Harbor House playground community service project. He uses video endorsements from several Green Bay Packers players to articulate the need for the playground. Trevor personally interviewed children at the Harbor House to describe how they would feel if they had a more enhanced play structure. One child expressed an idea to create a playground for parents, so they could have fun too.
Trevor is also personally vested in his project. He has put in 1K of his own money towards his playground project. He plans on putting in sweat equity as well. He will act as architect, onsite construction manager and volunteer coordinator the day of the build, which he hopes will occur in April 2017.
